The Florence Duomo Tour will offer an incredible opportunity to completely reveal the story behind the most popular Florence attraction – Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. You will see the whole city from an exclusive and breathtaking point of view - Duomo terraces and magnificent Brunelleschi's Dome built in 15 th century. Filippo Brunelleschi who had no formal architectural training received an opportunity of a lifetime. He considered the challenge carefully and did an excellent job building the largest dome ever seen at the time.

Tour Highlights:

  • Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore
  • Duomo terraces and magnificent Brunelleschi's Dome
  • Climbing Florence Duomo

The third largest church in the world Florence Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore) was begun in 1296. The first stone of the façade was laid on 8 September 1296  with the design of Arnolfo di Cambio and completed structurally in 1436 with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. It was built on the site of Florence's second cathedral dedicated to Saint Reparata. Florence Duomo is located in Piazza del Duomo, includes the Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile. If you wonder what to wear inside the Cathedral you need to dress appropriately for a place of cult. It is forbidden to enter with bare shoulders and legs, sandals, hats, and sunglasses.

This Florence Duomo tour will help you enter the Cathedral with a skip-the-line ticket because Duomo Florence tickets are not always easy to find. This is an excellent way to see this magnificent piece of art up-close, especially because you avoid long queues and tourist crowds. During the tour, you will discover masterpieces such as Paolo Uccello’s clock, Vasari’s frescoes, and Bandinelli’s marble choir, and the cathedral's Crypt, which houses the remains of the old basilica of Santa Reparata, the most tangible evidence of early Christianity in Florence.

This is an exclusive visit of the Florence Duomo Terraces, that are normally not open to the public. It gives you an opportunity to take the most incredible photos from this 32-meter-high (105 ft) panoramic point right in the middle of the old town. Climbing Florence Duomo means climbing 442 steps on a narrow stairway, but this is one thing everybody wants to do because you begin your ascent to Florence Heaven. On the way, you will also learn how the massive self-standing Cathedral's dome was built and how it still firmly dominates Florence skyline after 600 years. Then, if you feel like continuing your climb, you can reach the top of amazing engineering achievement Brunelleschi's Dome. Climbing Florence Duomo may seem like an impossible mission for some of you, but we are sure it will be worth it.

If you feel like visiting extra locations, this Duomo Florence tour will offer the possibility to visit the Great Museum of the Cathedral, Baptistery, and Giotto's Bell Tower. All this can be done in the next 48 hours.
