Entering with this Accademia Florence skip-the-line ticket you will have an opportunity to discover the original Michelangelo's masterpiece David that has become the symbol of Renaissance splendor. This astonishing Renaissance sculpture was created between 1501 and 1504. It represents the biblical hero David that killed Goliath, the story found in Book 1 Samuel.  Made of one single block of marble from the quarries in Carrara in Tuscany, one of the whitest in the world,  5.16 meters tall, David stands proudly welcoming millions of tourists every year. 

The Accademia Gallery was founded in 1784 by Pietro Leopoldo, Grand Duke of Tuscany. The original Statue of David stands here from 1873. It was brought here for reasons of conservation and the original idea was to greate Michelangelo museum to celebrate the fourth centenary of his birth. Today, Gallery has a very small collection of his work. As far as David is concerned, there is another replica in the Piazza della Signiora.

• The Accademia is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 8:15 am – 6:50 pm.
• Ticket office closes at 6:20 pm and museum starts closing down at 6:40 pm.
• The museum is closed: every Monday, January 1, May 1, December 25.
