The Andean Volcanic Belt is a major volcanic belt along the Andean Cordillera in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The Andes range has many active volcanoes, and this tour will take you to see the most western volcano in the Ecuadorian Andes Quilotoa Volcanoes and the Cotopaxi National Park at the foot of the impressive active volcano.
The Andes Volcano tour highlights:
The tour starts with a bus drive through the Panamerican Highway where you admire the diverse ecosystems of the route and Andes. We continue to the Cotopaxi National Park, arriving at the foot of the impressive active volcano. Here, you have the opportunity to hike the forest of chuquiragua up to 4200 meters, visit the Museum Park and the Limpiopungo Lagoon.
Later, we reach the most western volcano in the Ecuadorian Andes Quilotoa Volcano, which has in its crater a stunning turquoise lagoon, making it one of the most beautiful landscapes of Ecuador. We take a short hike to appreciate the magnificent view of the volcano (if weather conditions allow). Quilota is simply fantastic for outdoor activities and should be the essential part of every itinerary that includes hiking tours and adventure in Ecuador.
