Duration
Depart from Quito through the Pan-American North Highway until arriving at the volcano Cayambe, where the passengers will have the opportunity to taste the delicious “Bizcochos de Cayambe”, a type of cracker or bread baked in a clay oven (greatly paired with local cheese or caramel sauce). Afterward, we will make a brief stop at Miralago in San Pablo Del Lago to admire a wonderful view of San Pablo Lake.
The Otavalo tour highlights:
San Pablo del Lago is a small and quiet place with surrounding scenery which is simply breathtaking. Besides being an incredibly relaxing place to visit, there are many recreational activities to experience. Another advantage of this place is its proximity to other popular sites like the Cotopaxi National Park, Otavalo market in Imbabura province visiting the most important lakes San Pablo, Yahuarcocha, Cuicocha, Puruhanta, (Pimampiro), San Marcos, Piñán, Mojanda and Negra lagoon, Hacienda San Agustin De Callo built on the site of an Inca palace being of the two most important archaeological Inca sites in Ecuador and many more.
The tour continues to popular Otavalo city located in Imbabura Province of Ecuador where Otavaleños (natives) set up a market in which a bartering manner of shopping is taken place. The market hosts a variety of different handcrafted items. Passengers may choose between staying longer in Otavalo or go to visit the leather shops at Cotacachi.
On the way to Cotacachi, we will visit a traditional workshop of Andean instruments "Ñanda Mañachi" located in Peguche. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the culture, traditions, and history of this ethnic group, located in northern Ecuador.
In Cotacachi, you have enough time to visit the village, the shops of leather goods and free time for lunch, (not included). The Otavalo tour finishes with a return to Quito picking up passengers in Otavalo. The bus will wait for 10 minutes in Otavalo to pick up passengers that stayed there after that will return to Quito with passengers that are on board.
