Spacious Grand Bazaar is the most famous Istanbul market, and the oldest covered market in the world. It is established shortly after the Ottoman conquest in 1453. Kapali Carsi was the center of trade, crafts and finance in the Mediterranean and the Middle East for centuries. It is a small town for itself with more than 60 streets numerous mosques, banks, restaurants, police station and over 4000 stores. Here you can buy everything from jewelry, textiles, pottery to bronze, leather, ceramic tiles, rugs. Bargaining is required and recommended on almost all the stands.
James Bond, in the sequel "Skyfall" 007, drove motorbike on the roofs of this impressive market.
It is open every day except Sunday from 8:30 to 19:00.
